The Sun: England Fans Boycott World Cup’s High Ticket Prices as 6,000 Tickets Go Unsold

According to a report by The Sun, England fans are boycotting the World Cup’s sky-high ticket prices, with a record 6,000 tickets — including those for the final — remaining unsold.

More than 1,000 of the unsold tickets are for the final, where prices range from £3,129 to £6,489. Data shows that 90% of the 30,000 members of England’s travelling supporters club have refused to give in to what they see as the greed of FIFA’s top officials.

The World Cup final will be held on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which has a capacity of 82,000. Of the 4,500 final tickets allocated to the Football Association (FA), only 3,409 have been sold.

The remaining 1,091 unsold tickets are worth more than £7.1 million in total, with almost all of them belonging to the highest-priced category. Meanwhile, organisers have released only 600 low-cost promotional tickets priced at £45.

The semi-final has also seen 814 unsold tickets: of the 3,500 allocated to the FA, just 2,686 have been sold. Apart from 500 low-priced £45 tickets, the remaining semi-final tickets are priced between £687 and £2,370.
